Who is the next “American Idol”?
The competition’s winner was revealed at an unprecedented season finale that aired on ABC on Sunday.
On the occasion of Katy Perry’s final appearance at the judge’s table, this season of “American Idol” concluded spectacularly.
In a star-studded finale, the three surviving competitors—Will Moseley, Jack Blocker, and Abi Carter—squared off for America’s final vote.
After witnessing the singers of this season elevate their performances week after week, the judges, Perry, Lionel Ritchie, and Luke Bryan, were thrilled to see all three of them at the grand finale.
The three vocalists received mentoring from Jon Bon Jovi. Along with Bon Jovi, Nick Fradiani, Jason Mraz, New Kids on the Block, Hootie & The Blowfish, Cece Winans, Wynonna Judd, James Bay, Cody Johnson, Seal, and Bishop Briggs, there were guest performances in this episode. Fantasia Barrino, a former “American Idol” champion, made an appearance on the program and gave the contestants an uplifting speech.
Perry once performed while sporting a garment that included the faces of all seven of her season’s competitors.

After Jack Blocker was removed from the show, the top three were down to just two. This meant that Will Moseley and Abi Carter, a native of Southern California, were the final two competitors.
Ryan Seacrest, the host, declared Abi Carter the winner at the end.
Carter commented, “It doesn’t feel real,” following the performance. “I think maybe it doesn’t feel real because I still feel like myself, and even though this amazing title has been given to me, I’m still just me.”
