We’re glad to say that Lamine Yamal is undoubtedly the successor to Messi’s throne.

Lamine Yamal

“He will do things we cannot yet imagine,” stated Ivan Carrasco, a youth football coach, speaking to the BBC about his experience working with Lamine Yamal.

“I remember him as a boy who was very aware of his talent,” Carrasco explained. “In sports, brilliant individuals are often selfish, but not Lamine Yamal.

“I noticed a generous youngster who did not want attention. As a coach, you sometimes wonder, “What can I teach him if he does things I can’t even imagine from the bench?”

“The closer you get to Lamine Yamal, the more you discover that the term ‘decisive’ falls short. He is a very, very outstanding football player.”

Over the last year, the world has seen how exceptional this footballer can be. And how unique Lamine Yamal is already.

Lamine Yamal had a breakout season in 2023–24, becoming a more important member of the Barcelona squad before becoming a household figure in this summer’s European Championship.

His semi-final goal against France—you know the one—will go down as one of the tournament’s most memorable moments. Lamine Yamal scored his goal when he was sixteen. Yikes.

Lamine Yamal’s superb skill and brave dribbles captivated the whole European continent during Spain’s march to success, and the adorable youth has continued in this vein this season.

Midway through the first half of Barcelona’s encounter against Athletic Bilbao, an ill-cleared free kick found Yamal on the outskirts of the penalty area.

Opening out his body as if he were about to hit it for the first time, the 17-year-old enticed the Athletic defender to close in. A big error. Lamine Yamal effortlessly slid by him before firing a boomerang into the lowest corner of Unai Simon’s goal.

The finest footballers make the game appear to be really simple; Lionel Messi is a prime example. Yamal appears to have the same attribute based on this data.

All while wearing braces. Can we simply give him the Ballon d’Or until around 2030?

Lamine Yamal, who starred for Spain in Euro 2024, demonstrated his talent in last week’s season opener against Valencia, assisting Robert Lewandowski’s equalizer.

The 17-year-old’s performance captivated everyone, including the home crowd at the Mestalla, who praised him despite their team’s defeat.

Hansi Flick, the new Barcelona manager, also lauded the teenage attacker’s performance after the game, hinting that he may use Yamal in a variety of places this season.

Speaking to reporters, Flick stated, “He is a fantastic player.” I wasn’t shocked that he received applause at the mestalla. He is an excellent player, and everyone admires such players. As a result, applause is quite appropriate.”

When questioned about Raphinha and Lamine Yamal’s responsibilities at the club this season, the German manager replied, “They can play in several positions, and at the moment it is necessary to have these solutions.”

It is unreasonable to expect a 17-year-old to play every game for one of Europe’s major teams, no matter how brilliant they are.
