Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, spoke about drug awareness at an occasion. He also encouraged the Telugu film industry to do its part.
On Tuesday, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that the Telugu film industry that seeks government assistance to hike ticket prices or shoot outside should reciprocate. He emphasized that, like Chiranjeevi, more celebrities should take the initiative to film short films and raise awareness about the drug problem and cybercrime.
‘Raise awareness in exchange for aid.’
CM Revanth urged authorities to make it clear that the government will assist the film business as long as its stars record a video or two to raise awareness about the drug problem and cybercrime. “It is not unethical for you to benefit from films. “But also do your part for society,” he urged.
CM Revanth further stated, “You approach the government with GOs to hike ticket rates anytime a big-budget film is released. However, you take no responsibility for spreading awareness about drugs and cybercrime. I am asking my officials to invite celebrities to create videos, regardless of their celebrity status. Let them create a 1-2 minute video for us.”
The CM further added that Tollywood actors owe a duty to the society that has helped them achieve popularity. He also thanked Chiranjeevi for creating a video for the government to address the issue of narcotic drugs in Telangana. The actor recently appeared in a video created by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau.
He urged the Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissioners to present the request to filmmakers before approving outdoor film shoots.
Furthermore, CM Revanth requested that theatre owners play these films for free before cinema screenings to raise awareness about narcotics and cybercrime.
Increasing ticket costs.
For those unfamiliar, it is common practice in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to raise ticket rates with government approval for a few days around a film’s release. Recently, the producers of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, requested permission to raise ticket rates during the film’s first week of release. The film grossed ₹625 crore in five days globally.
