Natural Star Nani and director Vivek Athreya’s latest film, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, has finally entered theaters, despite high anticipation. Do you want to know if it matches those expectations? Check out our review.
Story:
Surya (Nani) maintains his fury under control for six days, only letting it out on Saturdays against those who have mistreated him, as promised to his mother. A sad occurrence at Sokulapalem puts him on a collision course with the vicious CI Daya (SJ Suryah). As Surya strives to hold Daya accountable for his actions, he meets Charulatha (Priyanka Arul Mohan), a police officer whose participation adds another layer of complication. What sparked Surya’s rage against Daya? How does politician Koormanandam (Murali Sharma) fit into this complex web? And who exactly is Charulatha? The film provides all the answers.
Plus Points:
Nani gives a great performance as a man who controls his fury during the week just to let it out on Saturdays. His portrayal of this multifaceted character is captivating and believable.
SJ Suryah excels as the brutal officer Daya, giving a certain intensity to the part. His face-off sequences with Nani are especially fascinating, and his caustic line delivery adds a funny touch, making this one of his greatest performances to date.
Priyanka Mohan does great and has a good on-screen connection with Nani. Although their amorous connections are brief, they add to the story.
Murali Sharma portrays a competent politician, while Sai Kumar makes his presence felt. Aditi Balan, Harshavardhan, and others play their parts with grace.
Jakes Bejoy wrote the film’s soundtrack, which considerably complements various moments, whether action-packed or emotional. His score contributes significantly to the film’s overall experience.
Minus points:
Despite an appealing notion, the film has narrative flaws. Despite his experience with Ante Sundaraniki, Vivek Athreya continues to struggle with script execution. Some scenes are successful, while others fall short.
The first part of the film is mostly concerned with character introductions and seems relatively slow. Although the second half begins well, it loses pace as it approaches the finale, which might have been more dramatic.
While Aditi Balan and Abhirami bring emotional depth, their roles should have been increased to create a more interesting experience. Murali Sharma’s persona should have been better developed.
The film’s long runtime may turn off viewers who prefer a more dynamic pace. A tighter screenplay may have increased audience participation, particularly during the face-off passages.
Technical aspects:
Vivek Athreya’s tale is decent; however, his narration needs work. Focusing on timing and scene execution may have increased audience engagement.
Jakes Bejoy’s soundtrack is excellent, fitting the film’s tone well. G. Murali’s cinematography is great, although Karthik’s editing might have been better. The production values are good.
Verdict:
Overall, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is an engaging action drama with great performances from Nani and SJ Suryah, as well as a memorable score. However, the meandering storyline in places and the lengthy first half reduce its effect. Don’t delay; get your tickets today for an enjoyable weekend.
