More trouble for Manorama Khedkar, the mother of IAS probationer Pooja Khedkar, as the Pune Police have filed a charge against her for reportedly threatening locals with a pistol.
Manorama Khedkar’s video of brandishing a pistol in the air and frightening local residents in Mulshi, Pune, went viral on social media. Manorama was accused of intimidating farmers in order to get control of their land.
Dilip Khedkar, Pooja Khedkar’s father, was also involved in audacious land grabbing in the Pune and Ahmednagar districts. The whole Khedkar family had accumulated an enormous fortune and 105 acres of land through illicit methods.
Amitesh Kumar, the Pune Commissioner of Police, issued the notice after the viral video showed Manorama Khedkar, the Sarpanch of Bhalgaon village in Ahmednagar, holding a rifle during a heated dispute.
Pooja Khedkar rose to prominence after she began making outrageous demands and engaging in unethical behavior. Later, it was found that Pooja had reportedly lied about her handicap and OBC caste certificate in order to gain admission to IAS.
Interestingly, the Ahmednagar District Civil Hospital, which provided the certificate, notified us that Pooja Khedkar’s record was missing. She had also obtained a medical entrance by illegally claiming OBC. The Central Government has appointed a one-member committee to investigate all claims against her and produce a report in two weeks.
On Sunday, Pune police visited the Khedkar house, but Manoram Khedkar refused to unlock the door, preventing the policemen from entering. She even threatened them. In the notice, police have urged Manorama Khedkar to explain why her firearms license should not be canceled, and she has been given 10 days to answer.
The cops also took Pooja Khedkar’s Audi for failing to pay a traffic infraction challan of Rs 28,000. The Audi isn’t parked at the Pune Police Station.
In addition, the Pune municipal corporation posted another notice at the Khedkar house, requesting them to destroy the unlawfully constructed expanded part and plant a tree on the walkway near their residence.
Following a series of scandals, Pooja Khedkar was recently relocated from Pune to Washim District.
Pooja, who was relocated to Washim after the claims, declined to comment on the centre’s decision to form a panel to investigate her candidacy, claiming, “I am not authorized to speak on this topic. I am not authorized to talk on this subject per government policy.”
Pooja’s father, Dilip Khedkar, said that people are attempting to frame them and stated that his daughter has done nothing wrong.
“Is asking for a cabin and car a crime for an IAS officer? But there is a plot against us. We will expose the perpetrators and press criminal charges against them,” Dilip warned the media and social activists who were covering them.
