NIRF Rankings 2024:
The ninth edition of NIRF included three new categories: ‘open universities,”skill universities,’ and’state-funded government institutions.’
The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) has once again emerged as India’s top university, taking first place in both the overall and engineering categories of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. This is the eighth straight year that IIT Madras has topped the engineering rankings.
The IITs continue to dominate the rankings, with some breaking into the top ten overall. Following IIT Madras, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore came in second, followed by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Kanpur in third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively. IIT Kharagpur was rated sixth, AIIMS Delhi seventh, and IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati eighth and ninth. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) earned 10th place.
The ninth edition of the NIRF rankings includes three new categories: ‘open universities,”skill universities,’ and’state-funded government institutions.’ Anil Sahasrabudhe, the chairperson of the AICTE, also said that the Ministry will launch’sustainability rankings’ beginning next year.
For the third year in a row, Jamia Millia Islamia remained ranked third in the university category. Jamia Hamdard has emerged as the greatest pharmacy university.
IIM Ahmedabad is India’s best business school, while two IITs are in the top ten for management degrees.
AIIMS Delhi ranks first in medical studies, whereas IIT Roorkee is ranked first in architectural courses.
