Iran might strike Israel in 48 hours, according to reports.
According to reports, Iran is expected to launch a frontal attack on Israel within the next 48 hours, and the Jewish country is ready for it. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing someone briefed by the Iranian government.
The showdown with Israel’s long-standing adversary Iran comes as the country is at war with Hamas in Gaza. There is no end in sight to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
According to the individual mentioned by The Wall Street Journal, Iran is still considering the political implications of launching a direct assault against Israel.
“The strike plans are in front of the Supreme Leader, and he is still weighing the political risk,” an aide to Iran’s top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told the media.
The current escalation comes as Iran vows to punish the attack on its embassy in Damascus, Syria, which killed a top Iranian general and six other military members.
Iran blamed Israel for the strike, and the Jewish state has neither officially admitted nor disputed its involvement.
On April 1, Israeli airplanes reportedly struck Iran’s Damascus consulate, killing the country’s senior military commander and six officers.

The Damascus strike marked an increase in Israel’s targeting of Iranian military personnel who support anti-Israel terrorist organizations.
Recognizing the possibilities of an imminent attack on Israel, the United States issued a travel alert for Americans visiting the Jewish state.
Following the attack on its consulate, Iran promised to retaliate to the Israeli strike while avoiding a serious escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
“Israel must be punished, and it will be,” Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared following the incident.
However, Tehran stated that it would not act hastily as it lobbied for conditions like a Gaza truce.
Since Iran-backed Hamas assaulted southern Israel on October 7, culminating in an Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, Israel has increased attacks on Syria, targeting Lebanon’s Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia and Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The Wall Street Journal says that Iran might launch a direct strike on Israel within 48 hours, blaming it for the fatal attack on its embassy in Damascus. According to the source, Israel is preparing for a strike as Iran’s supreme leader considers the political dangers involved.
