The US table tennis team has a new admirer.
On Monday, while Lily Zhang of the United States competed in the Paris Olympics, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Team USA player Anthony Edwards were spotted cheering her on in the audience.
Edwards’ backing for the US table tennis team comes after the shooting guard was chastised by his Olympic colleague Steph Curry. Curry introduced Edwards to the table tennis squad before the opening ceremony on Friday, who claimed to have defeated him 21-0. His reaction was priceless.
“I got some people talking about how they’re going to beat me in ping pong 21-0,” Edwards told the crowd. “I do not believe it. I am not having it. “I’m scoring one point.“
Edwards and members of the table tennis team talked about a possible showdown, but it’s unclear whether the encounter will ever materialize. For Edwards’ sake, he should definitely avoid challenging them in their sport.
Edwards has recently boasted about his swimming ability, claiming that he is the best swimmer on Team USA.
“They ain’t no swimmers,” Edwards explained.
There’s no questioning Edwards’ athleticism on the basketball court, and he appears to be confident in his ability in other sports as well. Perhaps once he finishes competing in the Olympics, he will have the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.
