Andy Murray played his final Wimbledon match after Emma Raducanu confirmed her withdrawal from the mixed doubles owing to a problem with her right wrist.

The two were supposed to play their first match on Saturday evening, but Raducanu announced she was opting out to spare herself from harm.

“Unfortunately, I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist this morning, so therefore, I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles tonight,” she informed us.

“I’m disappointed, as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy but got to take care.”

Murray is unable to choose a replacement partner due to tournament regulations. Another couple will take their place.

The news is a tremendous disappointment for fans, especially those who had seats at No. 1 Court and were looking forward to watching Murray.

The 37-year-old paired his brother, Jamie, in the men’s doubles on Thursday and was given a heartfelt send-off that featured a video tribute and an on-court interview with Sue Barker in front of many of his colleagues, including Novak Djokovic.

Raducanu is scheduled to play her fourth-round match in women’s singles on Sunday. The late scheduling of the mixed doubles would have shortened her recuperation time.

Judy Murray described Raducanu’s departure from her son’s team as “astonishing” on X. Andy Murray stated on Thursday that he will not reconsider his retirement after he recovers from his latest illness, saying: “I feel it’s time now. “I’m ready for that.”

Raducanu has struggled with injuries after winning the US Open in New York in 2021. She had surgery on both wrists in May 2023, forcing her to miss the tour until January.

She faces Lulu Sun in singles on Sunday and is understandably careful about pushing her body too far after undergoing ankle surgery last year, which kept her out for eight months.

Murray will now embark on a family vacation before preparing for his final tournament of his career, the Olympics in Paris, where he is registered in both singles and doubles with Dan Evans.

There does not appear to be much cause for concern, with Raducanu hitting at the All England Club on Saturday, although she was seen looking uncomfortable. She donned an England shirt again before the Euro 2024 quarterfinals later on Saturday.
