After heavy rains swamped portions of Bengaluru, the Karnataka government declared a vacation for all schools and institutions in the tech capital on Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an orange signal for Bengaluru, which is predicted to get severe rains beginning tomorrow. Institutions have only recently returned following the Dasara vacation, and instructors in a few institutions have apparently been ordered to conduct online lectures for pupils from upper sections. Valmiki Jayanti is already scheduled for Thursday, making it a public holiday.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Bengaluru’s civic authorities stated that a flood control team is ready to assist people at any moment. In a statement, the BBMP stated, “The following are the areas where it rained throughout the day, and it is predicted that it will rain further in these areas until 8 a.m. on October 16, 2024.” The BBMP’s flood management mechanisms are in place and working. “We are actively addressing and providing areas affected by the rain.”

The local authority also encouraged Bengaluru residents to walk out if required. “We urge the citizens of these areas to venture out only when necessary and be cautious,” according to BBMP.

On Tuesday, the Yelahanka Zone in Bengaluru had considerable rainfall, with Chowdeswari Nagar receiving the most at 73.5 mm. The Jakkur belt also received 65.5 mm of rain.
