Saturday is the Brooklyn Half Marathon, which means there will be traffic closures all across the borough. 

More than 26,000 runners are anticipated to take part, according to New York Road Runners.

What time is the start of the Brooklyn Half Marathon?

On Saturday, May 18, the Brooklyn Half begins at 7 a.m., with the second wave of runners starting at 8 a.m.

Security checks begin at 5:30 a.m., and bag check start at 5 a.m.

Running from the Brooklyn Museum, the 13.1-mile course passes by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, rounds Grand Army Plaza, passes through Prospect Park, and travels down Ocean Parkway to the boardwalk in Coney Island.

It is recommended that following the event, participants and spectators use the N or Q line from Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue. D and F trains won’t be running at the station on Saturday because of rail maintenance and signal upgrades.

On Saturday, the following roads will be blocked from 12 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.:

  • Grand Army Plaza to Bedford Avenue via Eastern Parkway
  • From Classon Avenue to Franklin Avenue, President Street and Union Street
  • From Eastern Parkway to Empire Boulevard on Washington Avenue

On Saturday, the following roads will be blocked from 12 a.m. until 1 p.m.:

  • West 10th Street from Boardwalk to Surf Avenue
  • Stillwell Avenue from Boardwalk to Surf Avenue
  • West 12th Street from Boardwalk to Surf Avenue
  • West 15th Street from Boardwalk to Surf Avenue
  • West 16th Street from Boardwalk to Surf Avenue

The following roads will be blocked on Saturday from 3 a.m. until 1 p.m.:

  • West Brighton Avenue between West Second Street and Ocean Parkway
  • Ocean Parkway and West Fifth Street on Sea Breeze Avenue
  • West Brighton Avenue to Surf Avenue on West Fifth Street

On Saturday, the following roads will be closed from 6 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.:

  • Washington Avenue to Flatbush Avenue on Empire Boulevard
  • From Empire Boulevard to Grand Army Plaza on Flatbush Avenue

Other closures consist of:

  • On Saturday, between 6 and 11 a.m., Ocean Avenue between Flatbush Avenue and Parkside Avenue will be blocked.
  • On Saturday, Parkside Avenue will be blocked from Ocean Avenue to Park Circle from 6 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
  • On Saturday, from 6 a.m. until noon, Ocean Parkway between Park Circle and Surf Avenue will be blocked.
  • Surf Avenue will be blocked on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Ocean Parkway to West 20th Street.

Starting on Friday, parking will also be prohibited on several impacted streets.
