The National Weather Service (NWS) issued repeated warnings about a probable twister going for Wedge, Findlay, Oxford, Wood, and Butler counties.
The NWS office in Wilmington, Ohio, issued a detailed forecast predicting a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. It was spotted over Oxford soon after 9:00 p.m., local time. The meteorological bureau has issued a twister warning for Central Butler County in southern Ohio until about 9:45 p.m. (EDT). The storm was traveling east at 30 mph.
Local storm chasers caught a tornado on camera. The twister was moving toward New Bremen in Auglaize County late Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, a tornado warning remains in effect in Central Champaign County, as a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was spotted near West Liberty. A fast-moving storm traveling east at 40 mph was detected soon before 10:00 p.m.
Based on radar-indicated rotation, the NWS concluded in its forecast that the storm could cause twisters in Hamilton, Fairfield, Oxford, Trenton, Seven Mile, Williamsdale, Darrtown, New Miami, Millville, Somerville, Jacksonburg, Collinsville, Maustown, Mcgonigle, and Becket Ridge.
In a prior prediction, the NWS Wilmington identified a storm capable of producing a tornado over Fort Recovery, issued a warning, and residents of Southern Mercer County in west central Ohio were notified. The storm allegedly impacted several towns, including Celina, Coldwater, St. Henry, Fort Recovery, Wabash, Chickasaw, Montezuma, Neptune, Carthagena, and Maria Stein.
