Chandrika Dixit, also known as “Vada Pav Girl,” has been operating a food stand in the Mongolpuri neighborhood for several months, according to authorities. 

The Delhi police replied on Friday to viral footage showing a vada pav seller being detained by police officers in Outer Delhi, stating that the woman was not arrested and that no charges had been filed against her.

A few days ago, the vada pav vendor shared a video of an incident between her and residents while organizing a communal feast, or bhandara, outside her shop.

Police stated her shop was operating without a municipal license and drew a huge number of consumers as well as other online content makers. According to reports, the mob gathered at her kiosk caused traffic concerns in the surrounding neighborhood.

Police claimed they got complaints from homeowners about a traffic bottleneck in the area after she organized a bhandara along the road. When the police arrived, she misbehaved with the authorities, they said. Her stall was confiscated, and she was sent to the police station.

According to DCP Outer Delhi, no complaint has been lodged, and Ms Dixit has never been detained.

Ms. Dixit is a street food seller from Delhi who owns a Vada Pav booth and has over 300,000 Instagram followers. She became viral after she was heard weeping on the phone with a representative from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) after claiming they threatened to remove her kiosk.
