TogglePreity Zinta’s statements came as the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings were suffering from a horrible run this season, as they are positioned eighth in the IPL 2024 points table.
Preity Zinta, the owner of Punjab Kings, does not have many reasons to be optimistic about IPL 2024, and facing Mumbai Indians without regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan, the franchise’s chances already appear gloomy. Ahead of the big PBKS vs. MI match, Preity Zinta’s previous statement on Rohit Sharma has gone viral. She claimed she is willing to stake her life to obtain him as a captain if the Mumbai Indians release him in the IPL super auctions.
“I will risk my life to obtain Rohit Sharma if he appears in the big auction. We simply need a leader in our squad to establish stability and a champion attitude,” Preity Zinta told Star Sports after the Punjab Kings fell to the Rajasthan Royals.
The Punjab Kings, captained by Shikhar Dhawan, have been in poor form this season, finishing eighth in the IPL 2024 points table.
This is not the first time another team has expressed interest in Rohit Sharma and hopes that the former MI captain would be available at the IPL super auction later this year. Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer discussed having Rohit Sharma in his team.
