Rainfall swamps Melbourne’s southeast, forcing residents of Beaumaris and Sandringham to wade through floodwaters.
The south-east suburbs of Melbourne are flooded, with cars and homes damaged by nighttime flash flooding.
When more than 40mm of rain fell, causing trees to fall, building damage, and road rescues, the SES responded to more than 100 requests for assistance.
In Sandringham and Beaumaris, homeowners were seen on camera wading through knee-high water, while others tried to rescue automobiles and swept buckets of water out of their houses.
The rain managed to seep into houses, causing backyards to get flooded.
Cars sustained damage from the flooding, and backyards were totally submerged.Residents have complained about drainage in the neighborhood, claiming it has been a problem for a while now because of the flooding.
Jo Hynes, a resident, told 9News that water leaked through her home’s whole ground level.
“Right through my bar, my bedroom, my walk-in robe, and my kitchen—I had a brand new kitchen installed on Friday,” she explained.

It happens while extreme weather and record-breaking rainfall are plaguing several Australian states.
