Rebel Wilson also stated that no one, except her mother, wanted her to lose weight since it would mean she would not be able to play the usual ‘fat and humorous’ parts.
Rebel Wilson said she used Ozempic to reduce weight. In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, the star said that she temporarily used the medicine to reduce weight after her fertility specialist pushed her to do so in order to improve her chances of IVF success. What Rebel Wilson said:
The Australian actor, who has been in films such as Pitch Perfect and Isn’t It Romantic, stated, “Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good.” She later stated that she no longer used the medicine.
‘Beauty comes in whatever form and size.’
Meanwhile, Rebel discussed her weight reduction struggle, saying, “Basically, no one but my mom wanted me to lose weight. People felt I’d lose my niche in my career by playing the fat humorous role, and they wanted me to stick with it. I strongly believe that young women should not strive to appear like Victoria’s Secret models; instead, they should look like themselves.
I recognize that my relationship with food is difficult. I believe that beauty comes in many shapes and sizes, and I actively encourage this. So people are like, ‘How can you be so body-positive and still hate yourself?’
But I wasn’t loathing myself; I was simply disliking those humiliating acts.”
Rebel kept her Instagram followers and admirers updated on her weight reduction journey with photographs and motivating messages. She referred to 2020 as her ‘Year of Health’. In one of her latest articles, she stated: “Working extremely hard has meant that, due to all the stress, I’ve gained 14kg (30 pounds)! It makes me feel horrible about myself, while it shouldn’t.
I’m quite happy with the work I’ve been doing on new films and my book; nevertheless, it’s been a lot, and I’ve lost sight of my healthy lifestyle. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
The actress is preparing to release her book, Rebel Rising, on April 2.
