Orange Cap IPL 2024:
Following the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) match on March 30, former RCB captain Virat Kohli has risen to the top of the Orange Cap holding list in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli won the Orange Cap in 2016, and he hopes to do it again this season.
One of the most coveted trophies in the IPL is the orange hat, which is given to the tournament’s best run-scorer. Throughout the season, athletes demonstrate their hitting skills and score runs to earn the Orange Cap. Here’s a list of the best run-scorers in the IPL 2024 thus far:
Virat Kohli of the Royal Challengers Bangalore has climbed from third to first place, defeating Heinrich Klaasen of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kohli now has 181 runs, a strike rate of 141, and an average of 90. Kohli batted out the innings, scoring an unbeaten 83* off 59 deliveries, including four boundaries and four sixes.
Klaasen, who was previously ranked first, has scored 143 runs with a strike rate of 226 and an average of 143.
Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag, who entered the top scoring list with a spectacular 84 not out off 45 balls in the RR versus DC match, has now plummeted to third place. So far, Parag has scored 127 runs with a strike rate of 171 and an average of 127.
Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals captain, is ranked fourth with 97 runs, a strike rate of 146, and an average of 97.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma is in fifth place, having scored 95 runs in two matches with a strike rate of 226 and an average of 47. Tilak Varma of the Mumbai Indians is ranked sixth and has scored 89 runs in two matches with a strike rate of 167 and an average of 44.
Dinesh Karthik of RCB has scored 86 runs with a strike rate of 195 and an average of 86, making him a contender for the orange cap. Karthik is now rated seventh, pushing Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Sam Curran down to eighth.
The English batsman has been instrumental in the Punjab Kings’ middle-overs performance, scoring 86 runs in two matches with a strike rate of 134 and an average of 43.
Shivam Dube, of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is now ranked ninth. Dube has scored 85 runs in two games, with a strike rate of 166 and an average of 85. KKR’s Phil Salt has made an entry following yesterday’s match, putting him at number 10 on the IPL run scorers list with 84 runs, a strike rate of 140, and an average of 42.
