Amitabh Bachchan allegedly complained of shortness of breath, prompting his hospitalisation. He then underwent surgery, according to press sources.

ABP News reports that Amitabh Bachchan was recently hospitalised in Mumbai. The actor allegedly went to the hospital after complaining of shortness of breath and was admitted; he was reportedly required to undergo surgery. Another story by The Indian Express stated that ‘doctors at Kokilaben Hospital verified that Amitabh Bachchan had an angioplasty’ at the hospital early Friday. According to the article, an official statement in this respect would be made by his PR staff later in the day’.

According to The Times of India, Amitabh has been freed from the hospital, and on Friday morning, an angioplasty was performed on a clot in his leg rather than his heart, as several sites stated. The Hindustan Times could not independently verify these stories.

Amid such allegations regarding his health, Amitabh tweeted on X on Friday, “T 4950, in gratitude ever…” He also posted a video promoting his Indian Street Premier League squad. Amitabh Bachchan or his family have yet to offer a statement.

Amitabh’s experience with health

Amitabh had surgery on his wrist earlier this year. In January, he posted images of himself with Akshay Kumar on his blog, wearing a sling on his wrist and saying, “Akshay, one of the owners (of ISPL), and an explanation to him about the surgery on my hand.”

Amitabh was hurt in March last year while filming Kalki 2898 AD in Hyderabad, with the harness straining his back and requiring bed rest. He had ripped a muscle and injured his rib cartilage at the time. Amitabh was unable to attend the San Diego Comic Con to promote the picture last year owing to medical concerns.

Amitabh recently announced on his blog that he has filmed for Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD. He added, “Late nights again… but late from work last night… as the completion of Kalki approaches… and as previously mentioned, the publication date is May 9th… So, the final push is to have everything in order and provide everyone with an experience that fulfills the makers’ goal.”
